The Poshest Home Counties Revealed

With the rise of flexible working and months spent in lockdown, many Londoners are swapping the capital for the country in search of a spare room, more outside space, and a larger property.  Set in the beautiful outskirts of London, the home counties are a popular choice, known for idyllic scenery and greener pastures, but which one of these exclusive enclaves has garnered the title of the ‘poshest’ home county. 

In order to find out, we’ve gathered data on a variety of factors, including: Michelin Guide restaurants, riding schools, golf clubs, average property prices, and of course, homes with garden rooms. 

So, where did each of the home counties place on our leaderboard?

Topping the list with a perfect score is Surrey. As the most costly county on our list, the average home here runs over £600,000, making it no surprise that there are over 120 independent schools, 128 golf clubs, and 28 riding schools. 

Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire received scores of 8.2 and 8.1, respectively. Closely followed by Buckinghamshire with a score of 7.9, also being crowned as the county home to the most garden rooms.
