Who we are
Founded in 2006 in Watlington, Oxfordshire, by a family who believed a garden building should be as beautifully made and as enduring as the finest architecture.
Twenty years on, every garden room, gazebo and shelter is still designed and handcrafted by our own craftsmen, in premium Western Red Cedar and sustainably sourced timber, then delivered and installed by the same team. Each one carries the Crown Marque of Excellence: the standard of joinery, finish and service we hold ourselves to on every build.

Do I need planning permission for a garden room or gazebo?
Most garden rooms, wooden gazebos, and glazed gazebos fall within permitted development rights, meaning planning permission isn't required. This depends on height, boundary distance, and total outbuilding coverage. Generally, structures under 2.5m (or 4m for pitched roofs) positioned at least 2m from boundaries qualify. Crown Pavilions provides comprehensive guidance, and where planning permission is necessary, we supply all technical drawings supporting applications.
What's the difference between garden rooms and glazed gazebos?
Garden rooms are fully insulated, triple-glazed buildings with a pre-wired electrical package and a monobloc smart air conditioning system included as standard, designed for genuine year-round use as offices, gyms, studios or living spaces. Glazed gazebos traditionally feature lighter construction for warm-weather use and share the same premium timber, cladding and finish options. Glazed gazebos embrace classic British aesthetics with Georgian windows and verandas; garden rooms favour contemporary designs with extensive glazing.

Cost factors include dimensions, insulation quality, glazing extent, electrical complexity, and finishes. What maintenance do wooden garden buildings require?
Our Western Red Cedar buildings require minimal maintenance. Cedar naturally resists rot, decay, and insects, ageing gracefully to a silver-grey patina without treatment. Annual maintenance includes cleaning gutters, checking seals, and inspecting roof coverings. Cedar can be treated with oils to maintain original colouring if preferred. Our 10-year structural guarantee covers construction integrity.
