The Best Time to Have a Garden Party This Year

“St. Swithin’s day, if thou dost rain, For forty days it will remain;

St. Swithin’s day, if thou be fair, For forty days ‘twill rain no more”

Ah, the old folklore tale of St. Swithin’s Day dictating the weather for our Great British Summer. It’s known that summer weather can be as unpredictable as ever, but whether you believe in this tale or not, there’s one thing for certain… We always want a sunny and dry summer, perfect for a garden party.

Weather Trends and Forecast

According to the Met Office’s research, 2023 was a rather wet year, with 1,290mm of rainfall, putting it as the 11th wettest year going back to records from 1836. We didn’t even see a completely hot and dry summer last year, with July 2023 being regarded as the sixth wettest July since records began. This put quite a damper on our summer barbecues and garden parties – quite literally!

Importance of Early Planning

If last year is anything to go by, early planning is the key to unlocking the full potential of the summer season. If there’s a sudden early spell of hot, sunny weather, wouldn’t you want to be prepared sooner rather than later? Despite the doom and gloom of July, June last year emerged as a beacon of hope, marking it the hottest June since 1966 and the hottest June at that on record.  So, dust off your barbecue, string up those fairy lights, and get ready to host the garden party of this year!

Seizing September’s Sunshine

Even as September signals the promise and arrival of autumn, it is worth considering the summer festivities if the weather permits. For instance, September of last year was an absolute scorcher, with seven consecutive days of temperatures in the UK exceeding 30C. This made it the longest such run of sunny, hot spells in September on record – another record-breaker! We believe in making the most of every opportunity to gather friends and family in the comfort of your garden, regardless of what month or season of the year it is.

An Outdoor Oasis

We’re able to provide you with luxury wooden gazebos, bespoke garden rooms and summer houses, and unlike most garden rooms, our premium range is engineered to the same exact specification as your home. This means that whatever you use it for, whether it be an entertaining space, or even an additional kitchen/bar area to host your garden parties, you can enjoy in home-from-home comfort all year long, even with the temperamental weather!

Every Day is A Garden Summer Party

With Crown Pavilions, every day is an opportunity to bask in the beauty of British summers, come rain or shine, even if it does rain on St. Swithin’s Day. Whether it’s a balmy June evening, or the last of the September sunshine, we believe summer is what you make of it. Here at Crown Pavilions, we ensure your garden party is a success!
