The Ultimate Luxury Garden Gym Room Guide

In recent years, the demand for garden gym room installations and designs at Crown Pavilions has skyrocketed. This popularity is no surprise; garden gyms offer several advantages. These include the elimination of gym membership fees, maximum convenience and privacy, as well as no travel time. It’s a no-brainer in our eyes! Our highly sought-after range of luxury garden gym rooms provides endless fitness opportunities.

If you’re unsure where to start, we have compiled a guide to help you create your ultimate luxury garden gym.

How big do you want your luxury garden gym room to be?

To be able to exercise properly and effectively, you need to have sufficient space for equipment, free-standing weights, and a space where you can stretch your body. The Crown Sandringham and Crown Clarence luxury garden room models are our most popular luxury garden gym room designs, both part of our premium collection.

The reason why these two rooms are the most popular is because they are residential-grade rooms, meaning that they are engineered to the same specifications as your home. This means they can be enjoyed all year round, year upon year.

These two garden rooms also vary in size, available from 4m x 3m to 10m x 5m. This means that your ultimate luxury garden gym can be completely bespoke to your taste and preferences.

However, one thing you may need to bear in mind is that garden gym rooms require slightly more space than a usual garden room used for socialising.

Our standard buildings are designed to meet the 2.5m permitted development height rule which is needed if the building is going to be situated within 1m of a boundary line, providing you with a 2.1m internal ceiling height.

While this is sufficient for some equipment and exercise, generally 2.4m of ceiling height is required to ensure adequate clearance for most. For an ultimate garden gym, we recommend an overall ceiling height of 2.8 – 3 metres. This means your garden gym would need to be located at least 2m away from any boundary line.

However, if you do need planning permission, don’t panic. We have helped hundreds of clients with this aspect of their project and can ensure all is plain sailing.

What groundworks and electrics do I need?

Due to the purpose of a luxury garden gym room, you need appropriate flooring and air conditioning to make it an optimal environment to exercise in.

We recommend a concrete base for garden gyms as the floor will experience excess weight loadings. Therefore, we install the finished floor on top of a screeded base instead of an insulated timber subfloor, which is our usual flooring. Pile foundations or screw base systems could result in cracking and failure of the building over time.

Furthermore, we fully wire our outdoor gym rooms as standard, just like any other type of garden room. We install brushed stainless-steel lights, high-grade flush-mounted sockets, and switches. We can also quote for bespoke lighting, such as studio lighting for dance practice or suspended LED rings to create an authentic feel gym feel at home.

Regarding air conditioning, our team will advise on suitable cooling and heating solutions for your home garden gym. In most cases, we recommend installing a wall-mounted air conditioning unit to keep the space well-ventilated and cool.

What can I include in my garden gym room?

With your bespoke garden room tailored to your specifications, the lack of space will be no issue for your ultimate luxury garden gym room.

Have you ever been to a gym that’s full to the brim with equipment but has no space to work out? Our garden room designers can help. They will formulate a home gym floor plan to maximise your space, using tips and tricks we’ve learnt over the years.

In particular, our favourite home gym equipment is TRX training equipment which utilises almost no space and provides for a well-rounded workout.

We have experience in the requirements for strengthening the walls which is needed for the TRX hooks as well as yoga swings, straps, or simply hanging a punching bag.

The full luxury of a gym and spa

For those of you seeking the ultimate luxury garden gym experience, why not dedicate an area of your garden gym room to a small yoga area? This area can be perfect for stretching and post-workout recovery, enhancing your overall fitness routine.

Imagine having the luxury of a sauna or steam room built in as additional, separate rooms. Not only will these features add a touch of opulence, but they also provide significant health benefits. These benefits include improved circulation, detoxification, and relaxation.

Well, that can be a possibility thanks to our magnificent Crown Buckingham. This model combines the beauty of an outdoor shelter with a garden room. It’s ideal for placing a hot tub or creating a separate area for your meditative retreat.

By integrating a yoga area and spa facilities, your garden gym becomes more than just a place to work out – it transforms into a personal wellness retreat.

Whether you prefer a calming yoga session to start your day or a soothing steam session to unwind after an intense workout, these additions can help you become the fittest and healthiest person you can ever be.
