The Foundation Beneath Every Pavilion
Three engineered systems. One uncompromising standard. Surveyed, certified, and laid by our own team.
Built from the Ground Up
A Crown Pavilion is engineered to be enjoyed for decades — and the decision that makes that possible is the one no one sees. The foundation. We offer three considered systems, each surveyed and installed by our own team, each chosen to suit a different garden, taste, and budget.
Every project begins with the same starting point: a £460 inc VAT site survey and ground-screw test. It is the only way to know, with certainty, which foundation will hold your pavilion for the next century.
Crown EcoGrid Foundation
Recycled honeycomb base
A 100% recycled-plastic honeycomb grid that locks together to form a level, free-draining bed for your gazebo. Quicker than concrete, gentler on your garden, and laid by our own team.
- 100% recycled, reusable plastic grid
- No concrete curing time — install in days, not weeks
- Superior drainage protects the floor bearers
- Choose from nine premium gravel finishes
Tanalised Deck & Ground Screws
Premium redwood platform
Pressure-treated tanalised redwood decking laid over our own ground-screw foundation. Raised, naturally beautiful, and engineered to extend the life of your pavilion. Optionally extended for an entertaining terrace.
- Tanalised redwood — natural warmth, weatherproofed
- Raised off the ground for airflow and longevity
- Optional larger deck for outdoor dining or lounging
- Neat tanalised timber skirt finishes the perimeter
Composite Deck & Ground Screws
Maintenance-free luxury
Hard-wearing composite decking — virtually maintenance-free — fitted to our ground-screw foundation. Available in four reversible board finishes that hold their colour and texture year after year.
- Reversible boards: Burnt Oak / Rosewood, Pewter / Onyx, Platinum / Sandstone
- Grooved redwood option for a softer texture
- From £544 inc VAT per m² for bespoke decking
- Composite skirt surround for a clean, finished perimeter
Why we build on ground screws
Both our timber and composite decks sit on galvanised-steel ground screws — the foundation system replacing concrete across European construction.
-
125+ year service life
Engineered with hot-dip galvanised steel for generational durability.
-
Zero curing time
Foundation ready the same day — no concrete to mix, pour or wait on.
-
Installed in any weather
Rain, frost or shine — installation continues when concrete pours can't.
-
Minimal soil disturbance
No excavation, no concrete mess — your lawn and planting stay intact.
-
Reusable & recyclable
Steel screws can be removed, relocated and recycled at end of life.
-
Lower CO₂ than concrete
Significantly lower embodied carbon than a traditional concrete base.
How we lay your foundation
A single, predictable sequence — managed by one team, from the ground-screw test to the moment your gazebo is unlocked.
Site Survey & Ground-Screw Test
A specialist visits your garden to verify access, levels and ground composition. The £460 inc VAT test confirms which foundation is suited to your soil before you commit.
Screws Installed in Minutes
Galvanised steel ground screws are wound into the ground using our hydraulic equipment — no excavation, no concrete mixers, no garden churn.
Platform or Grid Laid
Depending on your choice, the EcoGrid honeycomb is filled with gravel, or the tanalised or composite deck and skirt is fitted on top of the screws and joists.
Gazebo Delivered & Installed
With the foundation set, our installation team arrives to assemble your Crown Pavilion in situ. Most small-to-medium gazebos are completed in 1–2 days.
